Power BI and Tableau Migration

Power BI and Tableau to Databricks or Snowflake, every number proven.

Why pay for BI twice? Move your dashboards onto the data platform you already pay for, and retire the licenses nobody needs. The assessment shows what you would save before you commit.

AI-driven: your business logic and the dashboards that fit, moved onto the governed platform

The problem

You moved your data. Your numbers stayed behind.

Your data sits on Databricks or Snowflake, governed. The definitions of revenue, margin and active customer still live inside Power BI and Tableau reports. So you pay for both, and nobody dares switch an old report off.

TodayAfter
You pay for the data platform, then again for Power BI or Tableau licenses and capacity
The dashboards that move run on your platform with no per-viewer fee; you pay the platform for the compute they use. The assessment shows which licenses, if any, can go
Revenue means one thing in one report and something else in the next. An analyst reconciles them by hand
One definition of every metric, chosen by its owner, kept on your data platform
Business logic and access rules sit inside reports, beyond the controls on your platform
Definitions and access rules set once, on the platform you already govern, for everything that moves
What you get

Every migrated report proven, signed and switched off

Migration assessment

What you have, what moves, what you would save, and in what order. Owners confirm every decision.

One definition of every metric

Each metric defined once on your platform, with a named owner. Access rules are rebuilt there once.

Reports moved in waves

Each wave is tested number by number, signed off by its owners and put live, and the old reports are switched off on the agreed date.

Your team can carry on

A runbook, and a final wave your own team leads, so they can move the rest without us.

How it works

Nothing is switched off until its owner signs

Assess, three weeks

We read every report and how often it is used. Your report owners confirm what moves, what stays and what is retired.

Translate

The platform’s own converter does the first pass. Claude fills in what it misses, and our developers review all of it.

Prove

Every number in every report gets a test, old against new. Claude drafts the tests; our developers check them and write any it cannot. Each number matches to the cent, or its owner accepts the difference in writing.

Sign

Each report’s business owner signs it off. Silence is not sign-off: an unsigned report leaves the wave.

Switch off

The old report goes off on the date agreed in the assessment. Retiring the licenses is your call; we show which can go.

$15,800

Migration assessment · fixed · three weeks

  • Every report in scope counted and triaged
  • A business case your finance lead reviews
  • A wave plan with owners and switch-off dates
  • Half, $7,900, credited to your first wave if you go ahead

Fixed, provided we have admin access in week one and 90 days of report usage history.

Then, wave by wave

$75,000

Per wave · fixed · six weeks

  • Sized in points from each report’s complexity, not by count. A full wave of typical reports holds 35 to 40 dashboards; complex reports, and the set-up and handover in the first and last waves, take more of it.
  • Every report tested and signed off; every report that moves has its old version switched off
  • The assessment decides how many waves you need

In the fictional Halvane Industries example, 46 reports moved and 5 kept reports were repointed to the platform, across three waves: $232,900 in total, after the credit.

Questions

What leaders ask us first

Databricks or Snowflake already gives us a converter. We’ll do it ourselves.
Use it. We do too. On Databricks it drafts the dashboard and its metrics; on Snowflake it drafts the data model only. What stalls a migration is proving the numbers match and getting the business to sign, so the old report can go. That is what we sell. With fewer than about 50 reports and a capable team, do it yourselves.
Our Power BI is bundled in Microsoft 365 E5. Where’s the saving?
Then there is no license saving, and we will say so on the first call. The case is one platform, one set of access rules and one definition of every metric. Capacity counts only if a whole capacity can go.
Is our data safe with Claude?
Claude reads report definitions, not your data. It runs under an account you approve. The tests run inside your platform and return aggregated results, never rows of your data. On Databricks, the converter needs partner-powered AI features switched on; we confirm that with your security team in week one.
Why not Sigma?
Sigma is a good tool, and it is another license and another platform to govern. We keep your metrics, and the dashboards that fit, on the platform you already govern.
What if the numbers don’t match?
Then we found something. Either our translation is wrong and we fix it, or the old report was wrong and you get the evidence. We never bend a new report to match a wrong old number.
The built-in dashboards aren’t as good as Power BI.
For some reports, that’s true. The assessment keeps those in Power BI or Tableau on purpose. We move what fits.
We’re on Snowflake. Will Power BI read the new definitions?
Not natively today. The Power BI reports you keep stay on their own model, pointed at Snowflake, and keep their licenses.
